i'm listening to sound of silver right now, and the first thing that strikes me is how much james murphy's vocals on "get innocuous!" sound like bowie circa "ricochet."

the byrne/bowie/reed derivation is indelible, but amazingly that's not a bad thing. sound of silver is pretty much guiding my decisions these days, from selecting a new tax man to which color to have my coronado painted. hell even which brand of condom i should be using (trojans are so 1998). i think i would take a life to see them live, but i don't think that'll be necessary as they're coming around soon.
