i'm reading rant, the new chuck palahniuk book. while it's an entertaining read, i can't help but feel that it's something of a sloppy ripoff of burrough's place of dead roads. even down to the repeated descriptions of overpowering stenches and lips constantly "peeling back" over teeth. still one of my favorite creepy turns of a phrase...
